My Friendship with St. Oscar Romero

Vanesa Zuleta-Goldberg grew up disliking the saints because she thought they were perfect and looked nothing like her. But then she learned of St. Oscar Romero, who profoundly influenced her outlook on racism and the Church’s fight for social justice. Zuleta-Goldberg also saw that Romero’s struggles mirrored her own and his love for the people of El Salvador reflected her love for the Hispanic community.
